Shomi Ahmed is a Senior Lecturer in the department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, IUBAT-Internal University of Business Agriculture and Technology, Uttara, Dhaka, Bangladesh. He has completed his SSC and HSC from Rajshahi Cadet College, and then he pursued his Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Islamic University of Technology (IUT), Bangladesh. He has completed his Masters of Science in Physics from University of Manitoba (UofM), Canada. He has achieved seven scholarships during his time at UofM. The most prestigious one is Manitoba Graduate Scholarship (MGS) offered by Manitoba Government. He stood second among the MGS recipients. He has also worked as Research and Teaching Assistant at UofM. He was supervised by Dr. Jeff Martin who is a group leader for TRIUMF Ultra Cold Advanced Neutron (TUCAN) collaboration. TUCAN is jointly collaborated by renowned professors from Canada and Japan with an aim to produce first ever neutron Electric Dipole Moment (nEDM). Mr. Ahmed has successfully implemented, commissioned, and characterized an Active Magnetic Compensation Prototype for TUCAN project. He has published 5 research papers in different International Journals. He has presented his research work at four different conferences within Canada. His research areas include Data Science, Digital Signal Processing, Image Processing, and Control Systems. He has more than three years experience in Python programming. In addition to taking courses at IUBAT, he is conducting workshops on “Python programming”.
